Simba’s First New Tour In 3 Years!
We weren’t planning on creating a new tour (Phang Nga Bay & Phi Phi keeps us incredibly busy!) but increasingly we found that returning Simba customers were wanting something different.
Krabi and Ao Nang is located some 50km east of Phuket. Given this distance the time and fuel required to hit the key sites no tour other operator in Phuket provides this tour plan. Compounding these issues is the fact a proper Krabi tour covers 2 National Park zones; for budget / high passenger load boats such a tour is impossible given nearly 800 baht in park fees needs to be absorbed.
Passenger numbers are STRICTLY limited to 16 adults as per Simba’s disciplined operating principles.
Krabi Classics covers all the key sites….
- the beautiful rock formations at Koh Hong
- the stunning green waters of the nearby Hong Lagoon
- the usually quiet and unspoiled ‘back beach’ at Poda
- the truly stunning Railay Beach.
The Krabi Classics is suitable throughout the ‘High Season’ (November – May) and selected days during the low season due to the variable sea conditions.
Be warned… it is an early start! We aim to leave the marina at 6:30am and be back by 2:30 – 3:00pm. Regular Simba customers will know how much importance we place on avoiding the crowds and according the early start gives the best chance to miss the hoards of package tours that originate from Ao Nang in Krabi.
To give you the very best day we can our tour is very flexible. We juggle the tide, weather, customer ability and the crowds to give you the best day possible. This may mean the omission of some locations, but never at the expense of your enjoyment! Other companies may promise you the world, but we want to enjoy the places we visit.
Below is a sample itinerary and general overview of the places we visit on this trip destination.
Duration is 7/8 hours on the water (approximately)
Lunch - Centara Resort
Lunch at this beautiful and exclusive resort is one of the highlights of this tour. Simba customers are also able to use the pool before and after lunch (time and schedule permitting). A typical menu includes: - Spring Rolls - Fried chicken wrapped in Pandanus leaf - Fried chicked with cashew nuts & dried chilli - Sauteed seasonal vegetables - Green curry chicken & jungle peas - Fried fish with sweet chili sauce
Koh Hong is our first stop and is approximately 40 min by boat from our departure point at Royal Phuket Marina. This location provides an early swimming stop in the small bay and also provides stunning photo opportunities (the first of many).
Nearby Hong Lagoon is famous for its tranquil setting and illuminating blue / green water. We take the boat on a 10 - 15 min lap of the Lagoon.
Poda Island 'Back Beach'
Next stop is the post card perfect Poda Island, famous for its rock formations and cliff faces. Often the main beach can be crowded with various boat tours so we head further around the 'back beach' on the south side. This beach is much less frequented and all the better for it!
Railay Beach & Phra Nang Caves
Perhaps the highlight of the tour. We alight the boat (tide permitting) at Phra Nang Beach, walk through the open 'caves' to Railay East Beach and then back over to meet the boat at the absolutely stunning main Railay Beach. About 20 minutes walking in total at a comfortable pace.
To break up the journey back to Royal Phuket Marina we take a 40 minute stop at 'Coconut Cape' a customer favourite from the 'Phang Nga & Beyond' tour. Fruit and snacks served for an early afternoon tea.
